M. Robert Goldman and Company is the successor firm to that which was founded in the 1930's by the late M. Robert Goldman, a civil and professional engineer whose specialty was steel design - he engineered the steel in many of the buildings that still grace the New York City's skyline. His engineering career provided him with contacts in both the lending and development communities. He transitioned to brokering loans in 1932.
The business started in Manhattan, but migrated to Brooklyn in the post-war period to accommodate the housing boom for the GIs returning home. It has been said that "Bob Goldman financed Brooklyn!" His clients included many of the largest names in real estate, including the LeFrak Organization as well as the Kalikow and Fisher Brothers.
Today his son Kenneth, grandson Jonathan and a fully integrated team of hard-working professionals carry on his spirit. The name of the company evolved as Bob Goldman's sons continued the business in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1980 Kenneth Goldman moved operations from New York to Long Island.
